Same-Sex Marriage
The Constitution guarantees equal protection to all citizens. We must either allow same-sex marriage, or get the government out of the marriage business entirely and treat everyone as an individual.

Defense of Marriage Act
The Constitution requires all states to respect legal contracts of other states. This law is unconstitutional.

Federal Marriage Amendment
I will vigorously oppose any proposal to write discrimination into the Constitution.

HIV/AIDS
This is not a gay issue. This is an issue that affects everyone, and it's time America understood that.

Gays in the Military
Discrimination is always wrong. It's especially absurd considering the recruitment crisis facing our armed forces. Many militaries, including the California National Guard and the armies of several close allies, have integrated gays and lesbians into the service without problems. It's time to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly.

Adoption
Congress should make no law preventing states from allowing same-sex couples to adopt.
